BPW 1ST TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
13th February 2013

Burton Park Wanderers have moved swiftly after dispensing
with the services of Kevin Fox last week by appointing Joe Smyth as their 1st Team Manager. With only one league win so far this season, BPW find themselves cut adrift at the bottom of Division One, but with a number of games in hand.

Smyth has recent experience of stepping in and assisting clubs after they have fallen into trouble with brief spells with Wellingborough Town in 2009 and most recently Long
Buckby (as Assistant) which saw both clubs stabilised and moved forward.

Smyth has a strong UCL Division One pedigree which includes a Runners Up at Thrapston Town in 2010/11 and a record breaking `unbeaten` Championship success at Whitworth`s in 2006/07.

Joe will join up with the team and will take charge for the AFC Diamonds game on saturday.

Joe commented "its always tough when someone loses their job in football and I wish Kev all the best as he's a pal of mine. For me, although the club is currently in a difficult league position I can see a real light at the end of the tunnel.
When I spoke to the club they convinced me that there are some exciting plans in place and I see it as a great project to get involved in.
I know it will take a lot of hard work but I am confident that we can turn the fortunes round on the pitch and move the club forward."

BPW commented "Firstly we would like to say how sad we were that Kev's reign has come to an end as since he joined us in 2009 we have achieved someamazing stuff.
BPW consisted soley of a 1st team and U18s playing at Rothwell Town but since then
with Kev involved in every step we have merged with Burton Youth forming a 13 step club, achieved Chartered Standards Status and secured the lease on our home ground at Burton Park. Kev has bocome not only a friend to all at the club but also an ambassador for our ethos of family orientated community football and we would love for Kev to remain with us as we strive for more.

We now move forward and are very excited about our new appointment in Joe Smyth and look forward to getting some points on the board. Our adult team are working very hard at securing new players and the Committee and Directors are working behind the scenes to get the lights ready for season 2013/14. This is our chance to become a fully fledged member of the UCL offering a high level of football for our youth to strive towards and it is simply the case of watch this space........., with Joe at the helm who knows what we can achieve."
